IF you were on the old version of DomainTalk you may remember me, but in case you don't I am a domain name investor concentrating on the New Zealand market. I currently have around 1,300 .nz domain names registered.
One of the frustrations I have in my business is the lack of a major sales vehicle for New Zealand domain names. Sedo is not focussed on the New Zealand market, most of the serious investors have their own listing pages and there are a number of sales sites with greater or lesser number of domains listed.
I've decided to start a new, completely free, listing service for New Zealand related domain names, I've called the site Hot Domains and it is available at www.hotdomains.co.nz. .
I'd like to start by saying I'm not starting yet another domain sales outlet or brokerage. I've decided this for four reasons:
I don't have the patience to work with people with 3 domains who say that as goldmine.com sold for $30,000,000 (I'm making this up), sell2u.co.nz should be listed at $10,000 and I should be pleased to spend dozens of unpaid hours tweaking their listing,
I believe that there are already enough sales outlets either active or announced in the market,
I want to say to the brokers and other sales outlets that I'm not going to compete with them, and
I want to expand the market by providing a service that nobody else is.
The idea behind Hot Domains is that rather than launching yet another sales site, I'm planning to carry the portfolios of as many of the existing sales outlets and major investors as will come on-board for free. Sales queries on their domains will be automatically linked back to their existing sales page. To me it's a win-win for everyone as it mean that the brokers and owners get additional links to their sales pages, and by being a very large list it will ultimately get more eyeballs driving more potential sales from portfolios so we all get to sell more domains. I won't be charging anything or taking a cut anywhere.
The site currently has 1100 of my domain names on it, and I have reached verbal agreements that should see this number rise to over 3,000 shortly.
Listed sites may either have an asking price listed, or may be marked “POA” (Price on application) as the vendor chooses.
If you're a broker (sales site) or have a significant portfolio I'd like to invite you to list your domains with Hot Domains. As mentioned above, this is completely free, you can leave your domains hosted where they are now, and all sales queries are sent to you through your existing sales site, or at your option, directly by email from the sales prospect.
It still needs a lot of work, but the first cut of the site was made live earlier this month. Feel free to have a browse & feel free to ask any questions either here or by private message.
