Default DomainMasters now live - 23-10-08

Hi everyone

The DomainMasters DNS cut over at 9.00pm tonight as scheduled and appears to have now propagated - the website should be visible to most ISPs now.

The back-room boys have been hard at work recently and we really look forward to helping you over the coming years. Please be patient as some of the finer details are still being sorted, but feel free to offer us your suggestions.

Remember that all Domainers have a no-nonsense, no-catch, free listing with NO commission for 100 names or more - for a limited time. Our initial aggregating could only occur with Domainers who have listed their asking price publicly. If your names are not listed and didn't display your asking prices, then this is likely why you're not there - nothing personal! Just slip us a list of your names and your asking prices and we'll do the rest for you.

The next day or so will see more detailed pricing for the public, a fuller explanation of Domaining and the DM T&C.

Domain Appraisers is scheduled to kick off in the new year as will the WDANZ/DM marketing efforts.

Membership services will be developed steadily. The first offering to Domainers and WDANZ members will be priority access to new listings (i.e. within the 48 hour window prior to public listing). It's touch and go whether we will have this service operational this side of Christmas, but it might be possible if there is strong support from you all for the priority service.

All things being equal, we are expecting the current listing of 3680 Domains (with an asking price of $16m, and a realistic valuation of $11m) to probably double over the next week or two, giving us all a pretty meaningful opportunity to work together for the common good.

The chocolate fish award has to go to Garth with the top dollar name, but Bruce came a distant second for the greatest number of names. Andy has to be most generous with a bunch of great first names way under-priced by my reckoning!

Anyway - happy browsing!

Kind Regards
Dennis A Smith

Hi Dennis.

I as yet, have not authorised my names to be listed with your service, so why are they on your website?

I would like to know if you have gained consent from third party sites to include their listings with Domain Masters?

Hi Garth

Yes of course! The existing DM database has been built from six sources John, Oli, Bruce, Mark, Andy and Paul.

FYI; John Jones and I met with Andy in person some months ago and John and I agreed that seeing as names.co.nz already existed, that Andy was a WDANZ member and that we wanted to help him, that we would list the Domain Names on names.co.nz as a courtesy at no charge for an initial period. The initial time period was not discussed at that meeting however and DM has yet to actually set this complimentary period however it is likely to be a year or so.

I called you by phone and left a message asking you to make contact well prior to the DM launch. I did the same with Andy who was in Fiji. Neither of you returned the call nor contacted me prior to the launch however!

Emails to other Domainers inviting them to submit their lists and their asking prices have been going out since the launch and will continue to go out over the next 24 hours to the Domainers who initially responded when the DM discussion document was distributed. If they wish to list their names, they are welcome to do so. It's a no-brainer really I think - certainly for the initial free listing period anyway!

If Andy has changed his mind, or you wish to de-list the names, or any of them that you wish to remain on names.co.nz alone, just advise and we'll be happy to oblige.

Feel free to call anytime if you wish to talk further. I think perhaps direct communication between us is better than a public forum, however I am happy to chat here if it is your wish.

BTW you have problems with your Forum with the error message appearing constantly. ON's technician said he had been having troubles with VBulletin since they upgraded it and said he would look at it. Might pay to chase that one up? The error message:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

Hi Dennis,

Have had words with Andy, at no point has authorisation been granted nor implied from Names.co.nz.

As Names.co.nz contains listings outside the scope of both Andy and myself, we believe your action's has not only breached Names.co.nz rights, but that of it's relationship and terms with it's clients.

Please remove all listings on your site that were obtained from the Names.co.nz website. Andy will confirm this if you wish to make contact with him via email.

Thanks for letting me know about the error message's, it has been a bug in the forum for some time, however I will pursue it further with the developer.

Default Confirmed - 24-10-08

Hi Garth
I have just spoken to Andy who confirms your request and explained the issue.
We'll arrange for your names to be de-listed ASAP, most likely first thing Tuesday morning now (with the long weekend upon us all).
When your list is tidied up, just slip the new one through to us by email, names and asking prices are all we need at this stage.
Dennis
